Africa, Eastern: Zambia

Zambia is made up of mostly a high plateau and situated 900 - 1500m above sea level. This south-central African country has large parks and reserves, is rich in wildlife and with the great Zambezi River to the South and arid grasslands in the SouthWest, the East is deserted with mountains and the Nyika Plateau. Yet, you will find large swamp forests and wetlands, rich plantlife and many endemics.

Zambia's great travelling and game-viewing periods are from May to August with dry, cool temperatures. From December to April you will find it hot, humid and rainy. Game viewing is excellent in: Kafue National Park, from capital city Lusaka's numberous reserves, the ever-famous South Luangwa National Park and the rather wilder North Luangwa National Park. To name a few.

Of course, one cannot miss the Victoria Waterfalls as Zambia's got magnificent viewpoints of it. And the Ngonye Falls (a.k.a Sioma Falls) are second to it.
