The picturesque seaside town of Hermanus is located in the Overberg region and popular as a holiday destination and for whale watching. The town is hugged by mountainous area, rich in fynbos and reserved areas.

Hermanus, home to the only Whale Crier in the world, offers fantastic whale watching – for which it is famous of course. The viewer can make use of the Old Harbour Museum’s telescopes or enjoy great views from the 10+km cliff path along the coast. Hermanus also offers other seaside activities such as fishing, sunbathing and water sports, and also horse-back riding, hiking, mountain climbing, dune-surfing, etc.

Year end events in Hermanus include the Camphill Community Hemel & Aarde, school and farm for people with special needs, fundraising fair "Camphill Country Fair" in December, the Carols by Candlelight at the Old Harbour on 20 December and the Party on the Pitch at the Hermanus Cricket Club on 28 and 29 December.
