Disabled Accommodation Requirements
Any establishments that advertise that they cater for the Disabled have indicated that they have at least one guest room which has been equipped for the wheelchair-bound holidaymaker. This should include:
• Ramp access to the building.
• Ground floor room or lift to the floor on which the room is located.
• The door to the room should be large enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
• Enough space around furniture.
• Facilities in arm's reach i.e. airconditioner controls, blind cords, television, etc.
• The bathroom should be large enough for a wheelchair and should be properly equipped with the appropriate handles and bars.
• If meals are served, the dining room should have wheelchair access.
• Remember, planning ahead can make the difference to a successful holiday or one filled with frustration. Please contact the establishment prior to arrival and make sure that all of your requirements will be met.
