Windhoek
Africa, Southern: Namibia
Namibia is unlike anywhere you've ever been. The colours are mesmerising and it seems to be one huge game reserve as many private landowners have turned their farms into tourism attractions. National Parks and game reserves include Etosha National Park, Khaudom National Park, Waterberg Plateau Park, Namib Naukluft Park, Daan Viljoen Game Park, Skeleton Coast Park, West Caprivi Game Reserve and the National West Coast Recreation Area.
This large country has a tiny population, is hugely arid and situated in SW Africa. Known for its shifting sand dunes of the Namid Desert, which is the oldest worldwide and appear inland for 100 - 120 km. In the North is the Etosha Pan with many wildlife and woodland savanna plus lush riverine vegetation, in the centre you can expect mountains, savanna and thorny shrubs and in the South the Fish River Canyon.
Best months for visiting would be from June to August when nights are cold but days are dry and warm - excellent for game-viewing.
