Mpumalanga Towns and Cities
The Kruger National Park - Founded in 1898, KNP now has 25 camps and a variety of accomodation. It stretches 350km over two provinces (2 million hectares) from the Sabie river in the South to the Northern Limpopo river. It hosts 147 mammal species, buffalo, wild dogs, black and white rhino’s, zebras and giraffes, cheetahs, lions and leopards, hippo’s and elephants, blue wildebeest, spotted hyenas and a great variety of antelope, 500-plus bird species 9of which the biggest concentration of birds of prey worldwide), 140 reptiles, 49 fish species and 330 trees.

Nelspruit – once the fastest-growing city in South Africa, Nelspruit is a vibrant place, situated on the Crocodile river, has a stunning National Botanical Garden and is close to Kruger National Park. God’s Window and Blyde River Canyon – nestling the Drakensburg Mountain this part of the Mpumalanga Lowveld is a jewel for nature lovers. Hiking here is a priviledge.
Barberton – just South of Nelspruit, Barberton sits in the De Kaap Valley at the foot Mkhonjwa Mountains.
Pilgrim’s Rest – this little town charms all of its visitors with it’s bygone architecture of last century’s gold mining and of course its breathtaking surrounds.
Wakkerstroom – this are is surrounded by wetlands and is thus a haven for fauna lovers and bird watching enthusiasts.
Dullstroom Dam Nature Reserve – this is a prime trout fishing area with great accomodation, hiking and viewing.
