With it's Lake Malawi (3rd largest lake in Africa), waterfalls, rivers, mountains (North) with Nyika Plateau, forests and uplants is a warm, inviting country that will suit most traveller's needs. It also has a tropical climate with hot humid days and cool nights. June to August is ideal for travelling with warm days and cold nights and wet and hot from November to April is best avoided. The plant-lover will find Malawi host to the largest amount of orchid species, more than 400. The eco-traveller will enjoy Liwonde National Park, Mcuu Wilderness Lodge, Nyika Plateau and Zomba Plateau (excellent for orchid viewing). Then there is also Lake Malawi National Park, a declared national heritage and the world's 1st fresh water park.
