Alluring Central America

Although sandwiched between North and South America, Central America’s 7 small countries resemble South America more than North America.

Central American Food
Exotic foods and passionate people are what make these places famous. Here you will find the National dish of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, the Gallo Pinto which is a mix of beans and rice and onion. In Guatemala and El Salvador it is called Casamiento (translated it means marriage).

The yucca and porskin dishes Chicharron con Yuca and Pupusas are much enjoyed by citizens of El Salvador, grilled octopus by Pananma and those of Costa Rica loves oven tamales that are wraped in platano leaves.

Guatamala is famous for its tamales made out of meat filling, tomato and corn ‘masa’ plus chili. There are varieties of tamales, such as the Black tamales variety made with potatoes and the Nacatamales made from big tamales with rice, potato, chili, tomatoes, pork and masa, all steamed in platano leaves.

Central American Drink

Piña Colada is famous from the Atlantic Islands and made from coconut cream and pineapple juice, crushed ice and rum.
Horchata, a Spanish drink, is drunk in most Latin American countries and made from rice.

Colonial Towns of Granada and León in Nicaragua (the oldest colonial city in the Western Hemisphere), Quetzaltenango (in Guatemala) and Antigua (in Guatemala), Comayagua and Gracias (in Honduras) Suchitoto and Juayua in El Salvador.

Beaches and Great Surf in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Nicaragua such as Bocas del Toro and El Farallón (Panama), Puntarenas and Limón (Costa Rica), Montelimar and Bahia Majagual, San Juan del Sur, La Flor and Pochomil (Nicaragua).

Central American Language is mostly Spanish, yet Belize which is used to be a UK colony, has English as its official language and is also found in Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras. Native languages occur readily.
