With the official name of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, this country has an area size of almost 650,000 square kilometres and over 25 million people.
Afghanistan’s Geography is a landlocked one in SW Asia. It shares borders with People’s Republic of China in the North-east (where the Hindu Kush Mountains are) and Iran to the west, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to the north, and in the South and East, Pakistan. Afghanistan has a large area consisting of the central highlands and to a smaller extends the northern plains and southern arid area.
Afghanistan’s Climate is dry with extremes between temperatures and seasons. Summers get very hot and winters quite cold. Rain appears between October and April.

Buses are unreliable and dangerous for internal travel.
Taxis are available from Kabul airport to the city centre.
Car hire need an International driving licence.
