Leading CNN International journalist, Richard Quest to moderate Global Media Face-Off at Indaba
One of the most significant editorial opinion-formers in the world
CNN International journalist and presenter, Richard Quest, is to be moderator at the Global Media Face-Off (GMFO) at Africa’s top travel trade show, INDABA, to be held in Durban from 9 - 12 May 2009. The GMFO, taking place on Sunday 10 May from 11h00, is one of South African Tourism’s flagship annual media events and presents an opportunity for the organisation to engage with local and international media on issues affecting tourism in South Africa.
The theme for this year’s Global Media Face Off is: Unprecedented opportunity for the South African Travel Industry.
Quest made his first appearance at Indaba’s GMFO in 2005.
“Having Richard Quest on board is a great coup and re-affirms the significance and caliber of INDABA. Quest has a distinctive and hard-hitting style that we are confident will bring insightfulness to the media debate around our destination; our readiness for 2010 and our reaction to the global credit crunch,” says Didi Moyle, acting CEO South African Tourism.
“He is one of the most significant editorial opinion-formers in the world and his agreement to moderate the 2009 Global Media Face Off is evidence of this destination’s status as an international news story and of the global media’s interest in the world’s major sporting events taking place in South Africa.”
Quest presents the fast-paced, hour-long consumer business programme Quest Means Business, which can be watched weeknights at 20:00 CAT on CNN International. His style is dynamic, distinctive and his reputation for hard-hitting but accessible business journalism is unparalleled.
Quest also presents Business Traveller, CNN International’s monthly programme dedicated to bringing viewers the latest news and trends from the travel and tourism industry.
Panelists for Global Media Face Off at Indaba 2009 include SA Tourism, FIFA, SA Local Organising Committee (SA LOC), Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), South African Broadcasting Services (SABC) and the South African Police Service (SAPS).
